Community & Trust
Lyneham Heath is a community built on the trust. We hold certain standards which we hope everyone will abide by, in order to avoid unnecessary policing of the grounds. This mutual trust is what enables us to keep the costs down whilst providing you with the facilities you need. We have sadly had to install CCTV EVERYWHERE
Booking
The only way to book is online. We carry out random lorry park checks so make sure you have booked BEFORE you come.
Double check the right number of horses and the CORRECT day to avoid being turned away.
Speed
A strict 15mph speed limit on the drive and then DEAD SLOW round the corner and in the lorry park as per signs everywhere. Beware CCTV and number plate recognition cameras.
Lorry Park
Clear droppings and all hay in lorry park using scoops provided. Do not empty your lorries into the scoops - take it home!
Overflow parking is now available leading off the main lorry park down the track towards the XC.
Pony Club Groups and Children
We love to welcome children and recognise it's very difficult for stressed Mums & Dads to always be able to keep an eye, but please make sure they know the barns and machinery areas are TOTALLY OUT OF BOUNDS. Danger may be lurking there. Warn them about CCTV and serious consequences. Please also check for litter they drop (unintentionally I'm sure) - we collect untold sweet wrappers. We now have CCTV in the hut and have had to install a vending machine which very young children may struggle to operate. Please oversee them! Bored siblings throwing stones (for fun of course - the bigger the splash the better) into the water jump is a total no no.
Water Jumps
When acquainting your horse with water please don't let him splash & scrape the gravel base of the water jumps - it creates hidden holes that can bring a horse down.
Groups
We recommend you park on the overflow parking area, especially if you are part of a large group, during busy periods (school holidays and Spring). We would also appreciate the organiser to appoint someone to oversee the Group parking area is left clear of hay, droppings and litter - sweet wrappers in particular.
Restricted Numbers
Owing to large numbers of bookings on some days we have to limit numbers. If the facility is closed IT IS CLOSED! If there's only room for ONE MORE HORSE, THEN ONLY BRING ONE HORSE or book another day. This could be due to the weather, ground conditions or sheer numbers
Paper coffee cups
Please do not hide them in a hedge - shame on you who do! For those others, try to remember where you leave them and take them to a rubbish bin in the lorry park rather than beside a jump!
Dogs & Dog Poo
All dogs on leads EVERYWHERE. We have increasingly found plastic dog poop baggies full of dog poo (how long do they take to degrade?) left all over the XC or chucked in the hedge. How should we deal with this? Ban dogs? Collect the unpleasantness in silence or install special poop boxes everywhere? Or more CCTV to deter / catch offenders. Let us know....
Cancellation Policy
Individual hire
A credit is available to Individual hire bookings up until Midday on the day before your booking for the Arena, and up until one hour before your booking for XC. Cancellations, and automatic credits can be accessed in the customer account area where you can also edit your booking within these time frames. Credits must be used within 12 months.
Clinics
Note to clinic organisers: For a full refund, 48 hours’ notice of cancellation is required. Any later than this will be at Lyneham Heath’s discretion. Any adjustments to the length of booking time will be much appreciated as early as possible, however we will endeavour to be reasonable.
Many thanks for your co-operation and we hope you have a wonderful day!
General Information
- All prices include VAT.
- VAT registration number 718 2016 58
- All dogs on leads - at all times EVERYWHERE.
- Please park nose to hedge / trees in the lorry park to allow maximum space for vehicles
- On busy days cars to park in the overflow parking down the track towards the XC.
- If you tie your horse up outside the lorry, please try to stop him from scraping, and clear up any hay he drops from his haynet!
- There are muck carts for picking up droppings in the lorry park, but please do not muck out your lorries into them – they get too full too quickly – thank you!
- Be aware we have ground maintenance machinery and staff moving in and out of the lorry park. While every care will be taken not to alarm your horse, please make them aware if your horse is likely to be upset.
XC course
- Use is not exclusive – others will be using the course for training, however we limit group bookings to a maximum of 2 groups running concurrently. Beware school holidays and half terms can get busy with group bookings.
- Check each fence for damage on both sides before you jump it - (some people do not advise us they have trashed a fence! If they do we repair swiftly or rope it off - there is no charge as sometimes these things happen.)
- Report any damages – YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED.
- Replace any knocked flags. These flags are designed to pop out of their holders, if knocked, for safety reasons.
- Do not attempt to jump fences beyond your ability.
- Note the signs indicating the level of some of the jumps (British Eventing Novice, Intermediate and Advanced) and please please don’t attempt unless you are well practised at that level or above.
- The XC is not suitable for very young or inexperienced riders.
- We try to be open when and where ground conditions allow. However, please respect the state of the ground and please do not attempt to go where areas are roped off. This is for your and your horse’s protection. It will most likely be unsafe or cause injury. We have to rope off wet areas during Spring and in unpredictable weather conditions, or if fences or ground need repairing.
- Inexperienced riders must bring an instructor. We highly recommend this instructor is properly qualified and has adequate liability insurance. Riding is a dangerous sport and we have witnessed some very irresponsible instructing.
- All riders to have a responsible adult with them capable of helping in the event of an accident.
- Hard hats must be worn at all times and must conform to the British Eventing safety standards.
- Body protectors are strongly recommended.
Woodchip XC Loop
- On undulating ground this Woodchip track forms a continuous loop linking the 2 far Water jumps.
- approx 30 fences, mostly BE100 to BE Novice height. 11 fences BE80/90 level.
- This is not a gallop, but you can canter (steadily!) round avoiding the jumps.
Show Jumps on Grass - no longer available
- All poles to be put back in their cups at appx 1m height (BE 100) ensuring no cups or poles are left on the ground.
- Any altered distances or altered parallels / oxers are to be put back.
- No grid work or trot poles under any circumstances. These jumps are for courses ONLY. Kindly use the practice fences for warm up. We can then keep the ground as good and fresh as possible for your horses.
- The show jump course on grass is very weather dependent and must not be used if it is wet or raining
- Please report any damages – you will not be charged
Large All-Weather Arena
- ALL DROPPINGS TO BE PICKED UP FROM THE ARENA BEFORE THE END OF YOUR SESSION and put in the silver muck trailer (muck scoops provided). Ignore at your peril!
- NO STUDS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES - they cause damage to the watering pipes and membrane beneath the surface.
- On finishing your session all poles to be put back in their cups ensuring no cups or poles are left on the ground AT 1m (BE100) HEIGHT. This is the height most of our customers start practising over.
- Any altered distances or altered parallels / oxers be put back.
- Please report any damages – you will not be charged.
- No grid work or pole work except if having a lesson with our in-house trainer Owen Moore. The arena surface is not designed for constant churning up in the same place and our poles cannot cope with the hammering. Return everything back to how you found it before leaving. If the arena is not immaculate when you walk onto it, then please report this immediately.
- There is no perimeter fence - please take into account the added risk when booking if you are inexperienced or have fresh horses.
Indoor Arena - no longer available
- ALL DROPPINGS TO BE PICKED UP FROM THE ARENA BEFORE THE END OF YOUR SESSION
- NO STUDS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
- Jumps may be used but must be removed & stacked neatly back outside after your session
Thank you everyone :)
